SUMMARY:World Space Week Seminar Series 2022: Sustainable Space Economies
DESCRIPTION:Register\n		\n	Leading up to World Space Week 2022\, celebrated under the theme ‘Space and Sustainability’\, WSWA is organizing the second webinar in the series celebrating the theme. \nThe creation of economically self-sustaining space sectors have become the focus of many countries\, ensuring that space activities are part of a wider ecosystem of domestically driven and retained socio-economic development. The financial cost for space operations\, however\, can be a great hindrance to the growth of the space economy. When additional sustainability constraints are added to the spacecrafts’ design and operation\, the challenge is even higher that space actors face. Some of the questions that panelists of the online event will discuss therefore are\, what does the concept of sustainable space economy entail; how sustainable economies can contribute to protecting our space environment; and what actions the global space community should take to ensure a sustainable space economy to thrive. \n				\n	eSpace Executive Director Emmanuelle David will talk about how we can create a more sustainable space economy and why it is important. \n	“A new space economy is emerging\, bringing tremendous opportunity but also an increase of space traffic\, especially in low-Earth orbit. It is our responsibility to the next generation to ensure that we use space sustainably\, and dialogue between academia\, decision makers and industry which is key to the success of this endeavour.”

SUMMARY:European Rover Challenge 2022
DESCRIPTION:The European Rover Challenge (ERC) is an integrated programme working towards technological developments\, specifically those in GPS-denied environments\, with space exploration and utilisation as the leading theme. The ultimate goal of the ERC is to become a standardised test trial and benchmark for planetary robotic activities\, coupled with strong professional career development platform. \nIn the ON-SITE formula\, student teams from all over the world work hard to prepare a fully functional Mars rover of their design. The rover has to be a standalone\, mobile platform. All teams that go through the qualifications\, get to compete on an artificial martian track in Poland in numerous challenging tasks. \n				\n	With their rover Argos\, EPFL Xplore won 3rd place at the European Rover Challenge last year (September 10 to 12). DESCRIPTION:The International Astronautical Congress 2022 will be hosted in the beautiful city of Paris\, France. Exceptionally\, the IAC 2022 will be from Sunday till Thursday\, 18-22 September at the Paris Convention Center. The Hosting Organization is the Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES)\, a member of IAF since 1981. Paris hosted the first IAC ever in 1950\, then in 1963 and lastly in 1982 and now will be holding the record of the city with most IACs hosted. \n			\n							REGISTER HERE
