SUMMARY:10th Sustainable Space Hub Coffee
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, 23 September 2026\n12:30–14:00\nEPFL Campus\, PPB 019 \nJoin us for the 10th edition of the Sustainable Space Hub (SSH) coffee & cookies\, an opportunity to connect with the community and explore the latest developments in space sustainability. \n  \nWe'll welcome Elise Therond to present Orbit-AL (iGEM EPFL 2026)\, a project addressing aluminum pollution from satellite re-entry. As satellites burn up\, they release metals into the atmosphere\, yet no regulations exist due to insufficient data. Orbit-AL tackles this by sampling atmospheric particles\, using engineered cells to detect iron/aluminum bioavailability\, and applying mass spectrometry to trace pollution sources. \nWe will then present the ClearSpace Prize to its deserving winner. \nThe third speaker will be Chloé Carrière\, who will introduce the outreach project called Espace Commun\, that aims to inform French-speaking 25-35-year-olds about space sustainability. \n  \nProvisional schedule \n12:30 – Welcome\, coffee\, cookies & networking\n13:00 – Elise Therond on Orbit-AL\n13:20 – ClearSpace Prize Award\n13:30 – Chloé Carrière on Espace Commun\n13:40 – Q&A and open discussion \nWe look forward to welcoming you for an engaging discussion and informal networking around the latest advances in sustainable space activities. \n  \nMore information\n(opens in new t\nOrbit-AL\n(opens in new tab)ClearSpace Prize(opens in new tab)(opens in new tab)\nEspace Commun(opens in new tab)
