Space is often seen as a limitless frontier. In reality, it is a finite and fragile environment. Decades of space activities have delivered services we now take for granted, such as weather forecasting, climate monitoring, navigation and communications, which underpin economies and societies worldwide. Today, the rapid commercialisation of space and the surge in satellite launches are making Earth's orbits increasingly congested and contested. Space debris, rising geopolitical tensions and the dual-use nature of space technologies now place sustainability and security at the heart of the sector's future. Without action, a cascade of collisions could make key orbits unusable for generations, putting at risk the infrastructure our societies depend on. This course gives participants a clear understanding of what space sustainability and resilience mean, along with practical tools to design, operate and manage missions and space businesses that keep the long-term usability of space at their core.
