10th Sustainable Space Hub Coffee

Join us for the 10th edition of the Sustainable Space Hub (SSH) coffee & cookies, an opportunity to connect with the community and explore the latest developments in space sustainability.
We'll welcome Elise Therond to present Orbit-AL (iGEM EPFL 2026), a project addressing aluminum pollution from satellite re-entry. As satellites burn up, they release metals into the atmosphere, yet no regulations exist due to insufficient data. Orbit-AL tackles this by sampling atmospheric particles, using engineered cells to detect iron/aluminum bioavailability, and applying mass spectrometry to trace pollution sources.
We will then present the ClearSpace Prize to its deserving winner.
The third speaker will be Chloé Carrière, who will introduce the outreach project called Espace Commun, that aims to inform French-speaking 25-35-year-olds about space sustainability.
